Baptist Community Ministries (BCM) is a private, grantmaking foundation
committed to a healthier Greater New Orleans area. As the largest
private foundation in Louisiana, BCM funds grants in four major
areas of interest: health; education; public safety; and governmental
oversight. Since the first grant was approved in 1996, more than
225 programs and initiatives sponsored by over 119 nonprofit organizations
have received funding from BCM. These programs provide services
to people in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, and Plaquemines
Parishes.

Our values in support of this mission emphasize:

Christian life and family values;
-
Compassionate care;
-
Unconditional acceptance of those we serve; and
-
Reverence for the dignity of each person and the cultural diversity of the community.
More About BCM
BCM encourages constant collaboration of community partners including business, government, other
grantmakers, charities, and individual citizens. Programs funded by BCM endorse themes of self-help, independence, and individual responsibility. Careful consideration is given to the BCM Mission when investing in community programs. BCM remains committed to the ideal of Christian service.
BCM enjoys a long history of serving the physical and spiritual needs of the community which began over
80 years ago with the formation of Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans. With the endowment established after the sale of the hospital in 1995, BCM supports programs that strengthen the health of people and promote access to a good education, a safe environment, and efficient, trustworthy government. A Board of Trustees comprised of uncompensated community leaders governs
BCM.
