Good Shepherd Nativity Mission School – Graduate
Support Program – This program provides a principle source of
transitional tools, placement guidance, academic, social, and peer
support for graduating students - allowing them the resources to
sustain the exceptional education received at The Good Shepherd
Nativity Mission School through their academic careers.
Greater New Orleans Education Foundation – Professional and Technical Support for New Orleans
Public Schools
–GNOEF provides professional and technical support to the New
Orleans Recovery School District, New Orleans Public Schools, and
Charter Schools.
Greater New Orleans Educational Television Foundation
– WYES-TV Middle Level Teacher Instructional Media
Project –
This project is
an eight hour videotape/DVD series on developmentally appropriate
and responsive instructional strategies and curriculum for young
adolescents ages 10 through 15 years. The WYES series will be given
to middle school teachers in selected middle schools in Orleans,
Jefferson, St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes during the academic
year to assist in professional development and middle school
instructional training.
Healthy Lifestyle Choices – Children’s Education Collaborative
Charter School Model –
This grant
provides funding for direct services essential to operational and
cultural turnaround in public schools; funding for a community
involvement planning process to solidify the changes; and small
capital grants as incentives.
Healthy Lifestyle Choices - Healthy Lifestyle Choices –HLC
implements a four-component behavioral health curriculum to reach
local children ages 2-12 and provide them with knowledge and skills
to make healthy choices before damaging behaviors are initiated.
Literacy Alliance of Greater New Orleans
- Literacy Americorps Project - This project recruits,
supports, and trains a large corps of full-time teachers and tutors
to serve in the adult basic education programs in the Greater New
Orleans area through the national Literacy Americorps program.
Loyola University of New Orleans - Creating Workforce Attachment for New Orleans' Most
Vulnerable Population
–This program organizes a multi-sector group of organizational
leaders to develop a comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable
response to a significant social concern: the life chances of
vulnerable African-American young men, ages 19-30, by realigning
resources so as to bridge turf boundaries, criminal justice,
education and social services.
St. Bernard Parish School Board - Project STAR
– This intervention
is designed to stop students from dropping out of school, and
subsequently catch-up to their age-appropriate grade level in middle
school or to enter high school.
St. Bernard Parish School Board – Cybercamps for the 21st
Century Kid
– The St. Bernard Parish Public Schools conduct a series of
'Summer Discovery' camps. This grant supports a supports the 'Cybercamps'
where youth have a chance to learn the nuances of technology such as
C++, Flash, 3D animation, robotics, and game modding.
School Leadership Center of Greater New Orleans
- Supports the School Leadership Center - The Center trains
principals and impacts school teams for the improvement of student
achievement in the five-parish region.
Teach for America
– Greater New Orleans Expansion - This expansion project to increase
the Teach for America corps size in Orleans and Jefferson Parish
Schools provides a much needed, immediate influx of highly qualified
teachers to public schools in this region with the ultimate goal of
dramatically impacting academic achievement.
United Way of Greater New Orleans - High Quality Childcare Project
– This demonstration project implements standards and builds
organizational capacity at three childcare pilot sites. Technical
assistance providers partner with sites to develop appropriate
training and determine and gather data and provide three accredited
childcare organizations as mentors to the three pilot sites.
YMCA
– YMCA
Educational Services (YES) - This program seeks to improve the
literacy rate of low-functioning adult residents in the city of New
Orleans and thereby improve their ability to function in society.
YMCA seeks to increase its volunteer recruitment and student
enrollment capacity so that they can serve as the premier tutor
training agent for all literacy programs in the metropolitan area. |
