New Orleans - Baptist Community Ministries (BCM) will host information sessions regarding their Transom Grant Application Process. Attendees may register for either Session 1, held Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 1:30-3:30pm or Session 2, held Friday, June 24, 2011 from 9:30-11:30am.

Sessions will cover BCM grantmaking philosophies, eligibility criteria, application components, and the review process. The workshops will be held in the BCM Conference Room located at 400 Poydras Street, Suite 2950.

Reservations are required and taken on a first come, first served basis with no more than two attendees from any organization. Please fill out the attached form and fax to 504-593-2301 or email information to Laurie Miester at lmiester@bcm.org no later than June 9, 2011. 12-16-2010Baptist Community Ministries Announces Date Change to Transom Cycle Grantee Application Deadlines
New Orleans, LA, December 15, 2010 – Baptist Community Ministries (BCM), one of the largest private foundations in Louisiana, announced today that the dates for accepting applications for transom cycle grants have changed.  The Spring transom cycle dates have changed from March 1-15 to February 15-28 and the Fall transom cycle dates have changed from September 1-15 to August 15-31. 
During the Spring transom cycle, grant applications will be accepted either by U.S. mail or hand delivery from February 15, 2011 through February 28, 2011. These new dates are two weeks earlier than the previous dates.  All applications must be delivered to BCM by 5:00 PM on Monday, February 28, 2011. 
Grant applications will be accepted during the Fall transom cycle from August 15, 2011 through August 31, 2011. These new dates are two weeks earlier than the previous dates. All applications must be delivered to BCM by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, August 31, 2011. 
This change also applies to all Fund Development Consulting Initiative grant applications.
These changes come in response to the overwhelming number of grant applications BCM has received in the past few transom cycles. “By moving the dates up two weeks, we are better able to review and score the applications to ensure each program is carefully considered for funding”, says Dr. Byron Harrell, President, BCM.

New Orleans, LA, December 15, 2009 – Baptist Community Ministries (BCM) is pleased to announce the awarding of six grants during the fall transom grant cycle totaling $971,000. The following organizations and programs were funded for the terms as stated below subject to annual performance reviews:

  • Bridge House – Bridge House Women's Program ($338,500/3 Years)
  • Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans – Case Management Institute ($75,000/16 months)
  • Common Ground Health Clinic – Common Ground Health Clinic Strategic Direction Assessment Project ($50,000/1 Year)
  • Young Aspirations/Young Artists (YAYA), Inc. – Urban Heroes($180,000/3 Years)
  • Families and Friends of Louisiana's Incarcerated Children – Parents in School Leadership Project ($255,000/3 Years)
  • Innocence Project New Orleans – Voice of the Ex-offender ($72,600/1 Year)

There were a total of 43 applications submitted during this funding cycle. BCM funds eligible non-profit organizations in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany and Plaquemines in four zones of interest including health, education, public safety and governmental oversight. Applications are accepted twice a year, March 1-15 and September 1-15.

With the award of these transom grants, the nonprofit groups can continue to build strong foundations within our communities and assist the wellbeing of our citizens.”
