Chaplaincy Services
Stephanie Golden Friend serves as a BCM Chaplain at the Orleans Parish Communications District, overseeing emergency communications via 9-1-1 and non-emergency services through 3-1-1 within Orleans Parish. With a strong law enforcement background, Stephanie originally applied for the role of Law Enforcement Chaplain and was assigned to the NOPD’s 3rd and 7th Districts. Her experience as both a Police Officer and Lieutenant has given her a unique perspective, integrating spiritual guidance with practical support. She holds a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Education, multiple board certifications, and is ordained at Suburban Baptist Church New Orleans.
• What’s the best part of your job? As the first in-house Chaplain assigned to our PSAP, I find immense joy in serving and building relationships with the dedicated operators who often go unrecognized as first responders yet play a vital role in serving our community.
• What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received? “Write your own story!” This advice, given to me by my mother who faced many challenges, always reminded me that her story didn’t have to define mine.
• What’s a hobby or passion you enjoy? My husband and I have a beautiful convertible, and we love cruising through the streets of New Orleans, playing our favorite music, and soaking in the city with the ‘top down.’
