Phineas Barber Marr III serves as a BCM Staff Chaplain at Lakeview Hospital, providing compassionate care and spiritual support. With 30 years of experience as a pastor, Phineas also spent part of his career as an Adjunct Professor of Religion at Carthage College in Wisconsin. He holds a Master of Divinity, a Master of Science in Education with a Counseling Emphasis and is a Board-Certified chaplain. Ordained by the American Baptist Churches in the USA, his ordination is now recognized by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
• What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received? My father always said, “It’s not important to know what you want. It’s important to know what you DON’T want.”
• What’s a hobby or passion you enjoy? Music. My family used to call me “The Human Jukebox.”
• What’s the best part of your job? Visiting with patients – they never cease to amaze me.
• What was your first job? Operating rides at Fun Fair Kiddie Park on the boardwalk of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.
• Do you have a hidden talent? If so, what is it? I used to play the spoons in a bluegrass band.
